Good Vibes 2010
“It was definitely the best Good Vibes ever” says Stuart Bean owner/operator of Skydive Abel Tasman. “Yet again we were blessed with glorious sunshine for the entire duration of GV10 including the final day the 22nd August. In previous years the Sunday has rained hard but not this year we still managed to get 8 loads in before the Pac had to fly back to Taupo. Thanks very much to TTS and Hamish Funnell for providing the aircraft.” Stuart adds “I and my staff feel privileged to be able to host such an event and with the ongoing support of the sports skydiving community we will continue to so.”
GV10 saw around 100 passionate skydivers participate in close to 2000 jumps. Thanks to load organisers Hayden Galvin and Pony we saw 17 First Flight Wingsuit jumps, Atmonauti jumps, Head Down, Head Up formations hybrids and Xwing jumps. Attila and Richie from Icarus canopies offered free FS 4way and 8way coaching whilst Stuart Bean organised sequential FS Big Ways. We had swoop and chug competitions, beach landings, lingerie jumps, fancy dress jumps, helicopter jumps and live Skyhook demonstrations. Friday night we were treated to an amazing professional firework display. Not to mention steak dinner, BBQ, Dodgy Deepseed party and a fantastic Finale Dinner and Awards presentation. This Year’s Captain Good Vibes was awarded to Laura Gentle and a note worthy mention was given to Cliff Wilson.
Every night we saw a day tape of footage from that day and a trailer for this can be viewed here. Day tapes are still available for purchase for only $15+p&p. There were heaps of prizes thanks to all our sponsors; BNZ, Deepseed, Downward Trend, Fresh Choice Motueka, Greenstone Energy, Icarus Canopies, Mc Cashins Brewery, Seabreeze Apparel, Skydivezone, Spaceship Rentals, Summit Lager. With special thanks to: Motueka Community Board, The Motueka Rotary Club, Fresh Choice Community Fund and Tasman Bays Promotion Association.
Next year will be our 10th Anniversary Good Vibes we are already planning another awesome event. Request your annual leave, book your flights, park your kids and start making plans for GV11; 17th – 21st August 2011.
